Hello all.

I will soon be performing live with my laptop (P4 2.53ghz, 512meg ddr) and don't kwow wich audio card to buy. Firewire or USB? I have a limited budget so I'm leaning towards a USB interface but I'd like to be sure before I go out and buy one.

This will be the first time I play live, I want to be sure that I can plug the "audio outs" of the interface directly into the clubs console and that what comes out of the clubs speaker system sound good, well not just good, awesome.

Can anybody offer some wisdom ? Thanks.

..... I think that no Firewire or USB card will give true zero latency or really nearzero latency to use cubase plugins for example. The only card I tested with extremely good results on that is Q10... yesterday I was playing with amplitube using 3 tracks (a inline bass input, an ambient drums micro and direct-to-q10 guitar with amplitube) and everything at 24/96, full quality and no clicks/pops. NOT good for play the guitar are the Delta 1010LT, SbLIVE and Mport DSP3000 between those I have tested. In USB and firewire interfaces I know nearly nothing but I doubt USB or firewire bus can beat a PCI one, especially on latency

Neither. Get a PC-Card interface like the Echo Indigo IO.
